Sarah Perrotta has composed music on the piano and sang since early childhood. Her piano driven atmospheric rock draws from many influences, including classical, jazz, rock and experimental.
Perrotta's first album Drink the Sky was released in 2000 under the band name Outloud Dreamer, a duo with bassist/producer Carl Adami. Then Sarah Medenbach and Adami often played the storied venues of Greenwich Village in New York City, including The Bitter End, Kenny’s Castaways and The Sidewalk Cafe. Their album received rave reviews, was named "Best Modern Rock Album of 2000” by WKZE radio and was in steady rotation at hundreds of radio stations throughout the USA. Sennheiser microphones endorsed Outloud Dreamer for Sarah's vocal performance on Drink the Sky.
In 2008, Sarah Perrotta released her second album The Well featuring renowned bassist Tony Levin (of King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, etc.) and the legendary Garth Hudson (of The Band) on accordion. The Well was mixed by Grammy award-winning producer Malcolm Burn. Following the release of The Well, Perrotta toured internationally with acts including Guster, Jason Colette of Broken Social Scene and The Barenaked Ladies. Tracks from The Well were in steady rotation on KCRW's “Morning Becomes Eclectic” radio show out of Santa Monica, CA.
2010 saw the release of Perrotta’s third album Tonight and also the birth of Perrotta’s first child. Tonight features Tony Levin on bass, guitarist Johnnie Wang and drummer Will Olsen. Performances and music from Tonight, including live video art synchronized to the album were used for a Pepsi-Cola commercial.
Perrotta’s music has been used in soundtracks for NBC Adventure Sports episodes, surfing competitions, FOX TV, commercials and several independent films including rock climbing documentaries "Dosage Volume I”, “Frustration = Motivation" and “Changing Identities, a story of Traumatic Injury and Art" narrated by actress Meryl Streep.
